Worship at Gloria Dei Saturdays 5:00pm, Sundays 9:00am and 10:30am
Coming out of the past two years there is ample reason to be weary. Yet with our hope in the Lord, we are renewed daily. Set free by Christ, we soar as on eagles’ wings.

The ministry at Gloria Dei is being renewed by God. It is strong and getting stronger. Together, we are committed to being and making disciples of Jesus. Through our gifts of time, talent, and financial resources, we are all needed. We are all being used mightily by God. Let us all give generously of that which has been given to us by God.

“Lord Use Us. Lord Renew Us. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Renewed in Christ

thoughts from senior PAstor Tim Selbo

Every single one of us, at times, needs renewal. These past two years the world has faced a global pandemic. In our own country we’ve seen division and disunity running rampant. Maybe you’ve faced hardships in your life. Maybe you’re just plain tired.

Renewal is a constant theme in the Bible. Adam and Eve, cast out from paradise because of their sin, needed renewal from God. And God came through. Abraham and Sarah, given the great promise of a child, needed renewal when they became filled with doubt. And God came through. The Israelites, lost in slavery to the Egyptians, needed renewal. And God came through. Our verse quoted above was spoken to God’s people in exile, and less than two years later, God came through and brought them home. Mary and Joseph, wondering about the news from the angels about having a baby, needed reassurance and renewal from God, and God came through. The disciples, locked in fear after watching Jesus die on the cross, needed renewal. And God came through in the most amazing way. Jesus alive and resurrected.

And I could go on and on. The Good News is that God’s renewal isn’t just for those we read about in the Bible. God’s renewal is available for you and me too. Amidst our weariness, God comes through. By way of the Holy Spirit, Christ is present with us right now. “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they shall soar with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not be faint.”

Renew! It is our Stewardship Theme this year at Gloria Dei. Just like we as individuals need to stay strong and be renewed, so does the church. Together we are the body of Christ. It is vital that Christ’s church stays strong. And that happens through you and me. We are the Church!

As you hear the messages over the next five weeks about renewal, I invite you to pray about your involvement and giving to Gloria Dei. Through your giving of time, talents, energy, prayer, and financial resources, we can and will remain strong. As we move forward from the last two rather difficult years, Gloria Dei is in need of God’s renewal.

Between now and November 14, you will have opportunity to make your financial estimates of giving for the year 2022. Just as God is so generous to you and me, let us be inspired to be generous to the work of God in our congregation. God’s will is that we remain strong both within and outside of our walls, bringing hope and renewal to the 3500 who call Gloria Dei their church home, but also bringing hope to this community and to the world.
