Friday Followings: Presents and Presence

Hello Gloria Dei,
As the season of Advent winds to a close and the celebration of Christmas is almost here, I want to take this opportunity to say Merry Christmas to every one of
you. You are an amazing community of faith. Inspired by Christ and filled with faith, you are the living Body of Christ on earth today, sharing God’s love in so many ways. Thank you for living out your baptismal mandate with such joy: “Let your Light shine before others that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven.”
At Christmas we give and receive presents. The best gift given and received is the gift of “presence”, wouldn’t you say? Emmanuel, God with us. God gives us his full and undivided loving presence. Jesus says “Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” The Holy Spirit of God is with us right now and always. What a wonderful present is the gift of presence.
And the same is true for the gathering of family and friends and church family. We are present for one another, and that’s the best present of all. I pray that you will experience deeply this Christmas the best present ever, the presence of God in Jesus Christ. And also the presence of one another.
This weekend we worship at our normal times on Saturday and Sunday. Pastor Sarah will bring us the good news using the Advent text of Matthew 1:18-25. (Reminder, no church school this Sunday, Dec 22)
