Happy Fall

Hello Gloria Dei,

This coming week our calendars turn from summer to the official beginning of fall. And with the arrival of fall comes pumpkin spice lattes, sweatshirt weather, the beauty of the fall colors, and much more.

I know for me, fall also brings with it an extremely busy calendar. I love the rhythm of being busy, but I need to remind myself that life consists of more than just busy details.

Today I simply want to give you a quick reminder that while paying attention to the busy-work in your life is very important, it is not the most important. Don’t ever let the millions of little daily details take your eyes off the bigger aspects of life. Things like family, faith, church, and serving others.

If you find yourself running around helter-skelter from one thing to the next, and don’t have time to spend with your family, or are too exhausted to make it to church, believe me I understand. I’ve been there. But if that is you, make the necessary changes to not let the big things go. Your family needs you. Your friends need you. Your church needs you. But even more true is that you need your family, your friendships, and your faith in God.

So as the calendar turns to fall, enjoy your sweatshirts and your favorite rendition of pumpkin spice. But most importantly, be sure you are making time for family, faith, church, and serving others. The small details of life are extremely important, yet it is the bigger things that give life purpose and meaning.

I encourage and invite you to take the time this year to join in on our congregational “Reading through the New Testament”. We are currently in the gospel of Mark. For this weekend’s worship, please read Mark 3 & 4.

May you be blessed with God’s peace, joy, and love.

See you in worship,

Pastor Tim
