Worship at Gloria Dei Saturdays 5:00pm, Sundays 9:00am and 10:30am

All Saints

Hello Gloria Dei,

In the church calendar year, this Sunday is All Saints Sunday. In worship this weekend we will sing “For All the Saints” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.” We will remember in prayer the Gloria Dei members who have died during this past year. And we will give thanks to God for the new life they now have through faith in Jesus Christ.

As we approach All Saints weekend, take time to give thanks to God for all the people who have mentored you in the faith. Your faith is a gift from God, and it has been passed on to you by a multitude of saints in your life. This weekend is truly a weekend to give thanks.

One of the living saints of God who has made a lasting impact not only on me and our staff, but also on this whole congregation, is Pastor Dwight Stensgaard. As you know, Pastor Dwight has announced his retirement. Sunday, November 21, will be Dwight’s last Sunday at Gloria Dei. He will be preaching that weekend, and we will have opportunity to thank Dwight and his wife Kathy for their presence and ministry among us.

During worship on November 20 and 21, we will celebrate Dwight’s service with Gloria Dei and his entire 42 years of ordained ministry. In between worship services that Sunday we will all have opportunity to greet Pastor Dwight and thank him. There will be card baskets if you’d like to leave a thank you card or give Dwight some good retirement advice.

Thank You Pastor Dwight. You are a blessing to all of us.

On another note, I’d like to inform all of you that Gloria Dei will be hosting the Augustana University School of Music Vespers concert this year. Entitled “Awake and Greet the New Morn”, this Advent musical concert will be outstanding.

The two concert dates are Friday, December 3rd and Saturday December 4th, both beginning at 7:30 p.m. You will need to purchase tickets if you plan on attending. Tickets tend to go fast, so I’d recommend purchasing them now.

Tickets are on sale now at augie.edu/vespers

God’s blessings to all of you saints, made righteous by the blood of Christ.

See you in worship,
Pastor Tim
