Reformation and Confirmation

Hello Gloria Dei,

This coming weekend is Reformation weekend. We celebrate our Lutheran Heritage which continues to impact our life and faith today. Martin Luther’s emphasis on Grace Alone and Faith alone re-discovered the biblical truth of God’s gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus.

In conjunction with Reformation, a large group of 9th graders will be making public profession of their faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord of their lives. We call this confirmation… a profound confirming, or affirming, of God’s promises made to them at their baptisms.

By hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit creates and strengthens faith in all of us. It will be cause for rejoicing as we witness these young adults proclaim their Christ-centered faith.

Don’t hesitate to wear red to church this weekend if you’re so moved. Red, the color of the Holy Spirit, is the color for Reformation worship.

A few other items for your information:

We have one more Stewardship Event upcoming. On Sunday evening, November 7, we will gather for this adult-only event at the Willow Run Golf Course conference room. We’ll enjoy good food and great fellowship, as well as hearing about Gloria Dei’s mission and ministry. The event begins at 5 p.m. and will end no later than 7 p.m. Please sign up at church this weekend or click here to RSVP.

The weekend of November 13 & 14 (also at worship on Wed Nov 17) is Consecration Weekend at Gloria Dei. During worship we all have opportunity to make our financial estimates of giving for the year 2022. You will receive an Estimate of Giving Card in the mail this coming week. You can return your card via mail, or during worship on Consecration weekend. Or you can make your giving estimate electronically, also available on our website under the RENEW Stewardship Campaign.

And finally, another reminder that our elections for open council and committee positions will take place via written ballot during worship on the weekend of November 6 & 7, and on Wednesday November 10.

Thank you for your partnership in the good news of Jesus Christ,

See you in worship,

Pastor Tim
