Giving Thanks

Hello Gloria Dei,

Two of our long time, beloved, staff members are retiring at the end of this month. You have heard that Judi Schwerin, Faith Community Nurse, is retiring.

But I want to let you know that Gail Wilcox, who has served Gloria Dei so well in many different capacities, is also retiring.

When I arrived at Gloria Dei as Sr. Pastor, Gail was a member of our office staff. Not long afterward, Gail took on the responsibility of leading the office team as Office Administrator. In recent years, Gail has served faithfully on the Congregational Care Team, taking the lead with our Prayer group and directing Spiritual Growth groups. Gail also has been a support person in the areas of facility scheduling and business administration.

These two faithful servants, Gail and Judi, will be dearly missed.

I suppose there is lots we could say as we reflect on the many years of service, but what continues to be overriding is simply to say a strong, sincere, and heartfelt “Thank You”. Gloria Dei would not be where it is today, a fully vibrant, caring, and faith filled congregation, without the strong contributions of these two servants of God.

Feel free to reach out to Gail and Judi and say thanks. Yet we want to have a formal time of thanks as well. So, please keep these dates in mind and mark them on your calendars.

Thank You Event Celebrating Judi Schwerin: Sunday April 25 at 11:30 a.m.

Thank You Reception Celebrating Gail Wilcox: Sunday May 2 in between services at 10:00 a.m.

Everyone is welcome and invited to celebrate these two remarkable women. If you’d like, you can mail cards to the church for them, or we will have a card basket at the above-mentioned celebration events.

Transitions are a big part of our lives. We wish Gail and Judi nothing but the best as they make these transitions in their lives. But most of all we say, “A BIG, BIG, THANK YOU!”

See you in worship, online or in person! We are beginning a five week preaching series on “The Characters of Genesis”, this week highlighting Adam and Eve. In preparation for worship this weekend please read Genesis chapters 1 to 3.
