Musing About Camp

Since mid January I have been thinking about this coming summer. Thoughts of swimming in the lake, kayaking, boating, campfires, worshiping around the campfires, hiking, riding horses, praising God in the great outdoors. I have been musing about CAMP! This coming summer, we already have almost 70 youth signed up for camp! I am so excited!

I was an eternal camper as a youth, Outlaw for 2 year, Klein Ranch for 2 years, 1 year at NeSoDak for leadership training in High School. After my 2nd year of college I wandered my way back to Klein Ranch as a staff person. I spent 4 summers on staff at Klein Ranch. I gained a lot over those summers, many life long friendships, leadership skills, I decided that God was calling me to become a Pastor, I gained a boyfriend at the end of my 4th summer, and I ended up marrying him. As we grew our family, we started going to family camp. Our family has been to Outlaw for many summers now and our children are hooked! Camp was a place Eric and I grew in our own faith, a place we helped others young campers grow in their faith, and an important place for our family to continue to deepen our faith and make amazing memories.

In their early days of Gloria Dei, there were many families who would attend family camp together. The strong foundation that is Gloria Dei, was built on the fellowship and community of attending camp together and growing in faith. Gloria Dei has continued to have a strong supporter of Lutherans Outdoors and have had so many faithful campers and staff.

This summer as we prepare for 4 weeks of youth camp with over 70 youth, I am still in awe of the impact that camp has on our young people, both summer staff and campers. We continue to pass on the faith and help each other grow deeper in faith. Camp is a perfect place to do that!

The staff at Gloria Dei has been talking about our own camp experiences and the importance of those summers. We would love to hear about how camp has impacted you! Please take a moment and fill out the following information at https://gloriadeisd.breezechms.com/form/losd and share your stories with us!

One other fun thing to make note of, a little challenge to the rest of the congregation. Middle School confirmation are collecting quarters for Laundry With Love. The class that has the most quarters by March 22nd will get a pizza party.  We are challenging the rest of the congregation to join us in collecting quarters for this awesome ministry!

See you this weekend at worship!
