Christmas Eve Schedule

Hello Gloria Dei,

As we continue in the season of Advent, preparing for the birth of Jesus, we meet once again the great biblical character, John the Baptist. Read Mark 1:1-8 in preparation for worship this weekend.

Among other things, John the Baptist calls us to be honest with ourselves and with God. Being honest about our need for God; being honest about our need for a Savior; being honest about the purpose that comes from confessing Jesus as Lord of our lives… all of this prepares us once again for the celebration of Christmas.

So how about if we all focus these days on being honest with God. John’s call is a call to repentance. John’s call is a call to be honest that we can’t go this life all alone. John’s call is a call to turn away from all that keeps us from God. John’s call is a call to turn around toward God’s ways of love, forgiveness, compassion, and joy.

As we are honest with ourselves and with God about our need for a Savior, then the coming of the one name Emmanuel, “God With Us”, breaks in as great news. So, let’s be honest and let’s experience the coming of Jesus as a celebration of celebrations. God Among Us. Hallelujah!
Speaking of Christmas, we are planning multiple options for worshiping and celebrating our Lord’s birth. Due to the pandemic things will be a bit different this year. Nonetheless, we will celebrate Christ’s birth in the following manner.

Here is the schedule for Christmas Eve, December 24
Nativity on the Go with a Live Nativity, in the Gloria Dei parking lot.
1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Come anytime during these two hours to this drive thru Christmas experience for everyone. Stay in the warmth of your vehicle as you read the Christmas Story in a brand-new way. All Are Welcome! Enter the parking lot at the intersection of 54th and Dubuque Ave.

Online Christmas Eve Worship.
Our full Christmas Eve Service with Pastor Tim preaching will be available online at 10:30 a.m. and also 5, 6, 7, and 8 p.m. on the hour. This service will also be available on demand throughout Christmas Day, December 25.

In Person Worship.
5:00, 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 p.m.
The in-person worship experiences will be approximately 30 minutes in length. They will include singing of Christmas Carols by our song leaders, Holy Communion, and Candle-Lighting. The Christmas account from Luke’s gospel will be read.

In order to provide for adequate distancing among worshipers, we need to limit the number of people at each service. Therefore, these in person services will require pre-registrations from Gloria Dei members. Use the following link to sign up - www.gloriadei-sd.org/christmas. Thank you for helping us be as safe as possible while we gather together by signing up and by wearing face-coverings in worship.

See you this weekend in worship, either in person or online. Our Sunday 9:00 a.m. service is always livestreamed.
