Senior Pastor
Tim Selbo
Pastor Tim Selbo was born in the great state of Iowa and lived in Canton, South Dakota when he was very young. Tim grew up in San Jose, California and still has family in the Northern California Bay Area. He ventured back to the Midwest for his college and seminary education, graduating from Luther College (1984) in Decorah, Iowa with a degree in English; and from Luther Seminary (1990)
Ordained in 1990, Pastor Tim served as Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran in Santa Rosa, California (1990-1993), and Prince of Peace Lutheran in Phoenix (1993-1997). Pastor Tim most recently served as Mission Developer and Pastor at Living Water Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, Arizona (1997-2008). He came on board as Senior Pastor at Gloria Dei in August of 2008.
Tim is married to Lorrie, who also grew up in San Jose. Tim and Lorrie have two children, Sarah and Ben. The Selbo family loves to hike, ride bikes, and take care of their two dogs (Nala and Brandy) and their three-legged cat (Candycorn). Tim loves to read and play golf, not necessarily in that order.

Associate Pastor
Heidi Kvanli
Heidi grew up in Crystal, Minnesota (a suburb of Minneapolis), graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls in 1979 and from Luther Northwestern Seminary in St. Paul, MN in 1983. Heidi and her husband, Lon (also an ELCA pastor) have served congregations in Minnesota and Nebraska and have been in Sioux Falls since 2001. They have four young adult children: Rachel Dickinsen (St. Paul, MN), Kara, Dan and Mike Kvanli (all in Sioux Falls).
Heidi’s areas of ministry at Gloria Dei include: family ministry, health, prayer and caring ministries, discipleship and faith formation. Heidi is engaged in a five-year Doctor of Ministry course at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, entitled, Congregational Mission and Leadership. In her spare time, she can be found reading, cooking, baking, scrapbooking, and, her newest venture—learning to play golf.

Associate Pastor
Loren Odland
Loren Odland serves as Associate Pastor in areas of Mission & Outreach, Education (Church School and Gloria Dei Preschool), Confirmation, and also has general pastoral responsibilities. He has served congregations in Pollock, Selby, and Arlington, South Dakota, and was Pastor-Director of Outlaw & Atlantic Mountain Ranches in the Black Hills. He and his wife, Sandy, have three sons and daughters-in-law and four grandchildren: Simon and Sydna have three children: Mari, Gretta, and Tate. Joel and Emily have a daughter, Ellie. Isaac is married to Carissa.

Visitation Pastor
John J. Degelau
John Degelau, Gloria Dei’s Visitation Pastor began in 1993. John visits with prospective members, hospital patients, homebound, and residents of care facilities. John has served parishes in Wolverton, Ulen, and was Senior Pastor at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing, MN.
John served his country in the Navy in WWII. He then went on to college at Augustana in Sioux Falls. He did his graduate studies at George Warren Brown School of Social Work. John taught Public School at Granite Falls and Jackson, MN. He graduated from Luther Seminary in 1963.
John has three sons, John, Eric, Steve and one daughter, Jan, and 10 grandchildren.
